Gendered perceptions of climate change and agricultural adaptation practices: a systematic review

چکیده

The present systematic review was undertaken to obtain a detailed understanding of how climate change perceptions and adaptation differ globally by gender different intersections among the farmers. Findings from 41 studies selected following Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) protocol, mostly Africa Asia, suggest that are highly contextual considerably varied intersections. Existing role, farmers’ age, education, knowledge, marital status, intra-household power structure, religion, social status ethnicity were intersecting with perception adaptation. Apart intersectionality, access resources, network local institutions found be important correlates strategies While agriculture being feminized, mere technological changes not conclusive rather socio-cultural, structural political in inevitable. Female farmers tend more concerned fatalistic about which reminds us urgency culturally appropriate communication informed decision regarding change. Future research could transformative exploring existing inequalities lying than highlighting binary differences only.

Modelling Agricultural Production Risk and the Adaptation to Climate Change

A model that integrates biophysical simulations in an economic model is used to analyze the impact of climate change on crop production. The biophysical model simulates future plantmanagement-climate relationships and the economic model simulates farmers’ adaptation actions to climate change using a nonlinear programming approach. Beyond the development of average yields, special attention is d...

Climate change in Australia: agricultural impacts and adaptation

The rate and extent of warming, along with impacts on rainfall distributions, are key determinants of agricultural impacts and will affect the success of adaptation strategies. The likely gradual unfolding of climate change should provide farmers in many regions and industries with sufficient time to utilise or develop adaptation strategies. Many of these strategies are likely to be based on fa...

How limiting factors drive agricultural adaptation to climate change

Consensus is growing that agriculture is vulnerable to climate change and adaptation responses are necessary to minimize impacts. Nonetheless, the diversity of potential impacts, agro-ecological contexts and regional capacity for change make understanding adaptation behaviors challenging and ensure that climate change adaptation will not be the same across all contexts. Considering this heterog...

The diversity of gendered adaptation strategies to climate change of Indian farmers: A feminist intersectional approach

This paper examines climate change adaptation and gender issues through an application of a feminist intersectional approach. This approach permits the identification of diverse adaptation responses arising from the existence of multiple and fragmented dimensions of identity (including gender) that intersect with power relations to shape situation-specific interactions between farmers and ecosy...
